Connect With Me//Over a Cup of Coffee

Hey Blog Family,

We had such a great turnout for the last Mix and Mingle…so, it’s time for another one!  Let’s take a moment to say hi to someone new, and possibly gain a long-term friend!

Let’s pretend that we are sharing a cup of coffee (or some other fancy drink if coffee isn’t your thing).  Over this cup of coffee, we will share details about our week with one another.  This idea was inspired by the Writing 101 course that I’ve signed up for via WordPress.

As always, thanks for joining! Now, let’s grab a cup of coffee!

If we were drinking coffee right now, I’d let you know that I’ve recently wrote an Open Letter To My Father.  I’ve never been so transparent before with him.  I was able to share most of my thoughts and feelings that I’ve been keeping safe since childhood.  My father and I have grown much closer over the last couple of years, so I felt that we were in a better place to be able to communicate more freely and open.  In response to the letter, he let me know that I wasn’t actually a headache for him…lol. He shared some personal feelings of his own from these earlier experiences. Nothing but smiles from me! I am even trying to plan for a family reunion…something we’ve never done before with my father’s side of the family.

If we were drinking coffee right now, I’d let you know that in about a week, I will be traveling to Mexico for 7 days!! I am excited for the well deserved vacation, the food, the activities, and dancing!  I’ve been trying my best to eat healthier, and become more physically active.  I do worry that my healthy lifestyle will suffer…just a smidge, because I’ll be in such an exotic place.  Anyone who knows me, understands how serious I am about my food.  I’ll plan  to do some outside activities to keep my heart rate up…in exchange for eating any and everything, and relaxing on most days.

If we were drinking coffee right now, I’d let you know that while I’m away in Mexico, I will miss blogging as often as I’d like.  I’ve honestly grown to look forward to connecting with all of you.  So many opportunities to meet such wonderful people, and become inspired by your posts! But, I’ll be happy to update all of you on how awesome this trip has been when I return!

In recognition of today’s Mix and Mingle, I ask that you do the following:

  1. When you share an update, begin with “If I were drinking coffee right now”.
  2. Leave a link to your blog so others can check out your space.
  3. Want to share this post with others? Be sure to pingback and reblog this post.

*Share as little or as much as you’d like*

Happy Sharing!

  1. If We were drinking coffee right now, I’d really be drinking lemon chamomile tea and I’d be sitting several feet away from you. I’d tell you how annoyed I am that I woke up with a fever of 102 and that it’s interfering with my plans. -_- I’d tell you to have an AMAZING time in Mexico and not worry so much about eating 100% healthy all the time. Eat plenty of chopped fruit with lemon and chili nomnomnom 🙂

    • How awful to have such a high fever!! I really hope that you feel better soon. Not feeling well is the absolute worst, and throws me for a curfball whenever I need to get something done. Thanks for keeping us all healthy with the safe distance you’d keep from us lol. Thanks for the healthy eating tips and the free pass to not eat so healthy all of the time :-)!!

      • Of course! I’m mostly better now! Huzzah! Robitussin and all day naps for the win!

Ooooooooooohh and you gotta get some street corn too. There’s a corn man that comes to my apartment building (I’m in Southern California) and he always gets my money. Nomnomnomnom

  2. If we were drinking coffee right now. I’d begin by sharing with you the goodness of God upon my life. I’d tell you how good he has been to me and my family and how he has delivered me from an accident. He has always preserved me and more especially my mom who travels down every weekend to visit from work. I’d also tell you that my younger sister will be getting married by November. i spoke with them yesterday and i realized how God has been helping them in the preparations. I want to wish you a safe trip to Mexico and i pray that God gives you a miracle. Don’t forget to share it with me when you come back. I will like you to get me some shawamah. lol.
Do have a blessed week ahead.
    Happy Sunday. 🙂

    • I’m glad to hear that God continues to bless you and your family!! Also sorry to hear about the accident, and glad that you are able to add this blessing to your testimony :-). Congrats to your sister on the upcoming wedding! Thank you for wishing me off sacked as I prepare for my trip to Mexico. I’m not gonna lie, I had to google what shawamah was lol! Where will I find this and what is it exactly, because my search engine was not able to help me out. If it’s food, my appetite is already growing haha!

      • LOLZ. it’s a special type of dried chicken with chili and it rocks great. I had a taste of that when i visited west Africa(Abuja, Nigeria). I think it’s only found there. But if you stumble upon that, please do get me one.
        Lol..:):)
        Enjoy..

      • Hahaha! Great, now you’ve got my hopes up…and I may not even be able to find this in Mexico! I’ll keep a look out though, and will ask the locals to see if they have something similar :-). I’ll also have to make it a point to visit Africa one day. I’d love to. Just those long flights aren’t on my lists of favorites. Have to work myself up for that!

  3. Thanks for the invite – this is such a wonderful idea 😀

If I were drinking coffee with you right now, I’d tell you that I’m both stressed out and exciting at starting a new job tomorrow. While school is starting back up again, it’ll be fun to work as a box office assistant for a non-profit ballet company with really rad, chill employees.

And if I were drinking coffee with you right now, I’d probably be ranting about the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Sorry.

    • Thanks for stopping by! Don’t apologize for ranting! Thanks for the well wishes for my trip. Congrats in the new job as well! I think the best part of any job is working with some really cool people. They can definitely make the job so much better. I’m done with school now, but I remember how hectic my schedule was. Always something to get done, while working at the same time. I’ll be speaking with you very soon too! I’ll check out the links you sent me about the interview. 🙂

  6. Hello FreeBryd,
if we were having coffee, I would say you look radiant and ask you how you day is going, I would say to have a good time in Mexico, the birthplace of my ancestors past. If we were having coffee, I would say you are beautiful and marvelous for hosting another Mix & Mingle to develop social networks. If we were having coffee, I would ask if you read Within Your Eyes (https://michaelathonyrios.wordpress.com/2015/09/12/within-your-eyes/)
If we were having coffee, I would mention although certain stress hovers above searching for a landing pad, for the most part all is good.
